Research Data Management (RDM) is part of the University of Bayreuth's 2025 Structure and Development Plan. Since November 8, 2016, the University of Bayreuth has established a Research Data Management Policy. The Policy was revised in November 2023 and adapted to current developments and requirements in research data management.

The new RDM policy of the University of Bayreuth is based on the DFG Code of Conduct “Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice”. The aim of the policy is to promote awareness of the importance of research data and to provide researchers and early-career scholars at the University of Bayreuth with information on how to handle their research data. Additional information on implementing the policy is summarized in the “Guidelines for Research Data Management at the University of Bayreuth”.
