Funding opportunities at the University of Bayreuth

The University of Bayreuth supports its members in conducting internationally recognized research, acquiring third-party funding in competitive procedures, cooperating nationally and internationally and participating in interdisciplinary networks at the Bayreuth location.

To this end, the University of Bayreuth offers its members the following funding opportunities:

Internal Funding Pool (2024 - 2027)Hide

The University of Bayreuth strongly supports its researchers in obtaining third-party funding in competitive procedures, developing national and international cooperations and participating in interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
  

  • With the Internal Funding Pool, the University of Bayreuth strengthen these activities by providing its researchers with funding for the initiation, planning and implementation of such projects.

University of Bayreuth Centre of International Excellence „Alexander von Humboldt“Hide

The University of Bayreuth has a research centre to invite visiting scholars from abroad as well as host Strategic Scientific Workshops to initiate and intensify international research collaborations:
  

UBT Humboldt ProgrammeHide

With the UBT Humboldt Programme, the University of Bayreuth wants to recognize the commitment of its researchers who strive to recruit internationally renowned guest researchers funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. These first-class researchers strengthen the internationality and quality of research and thus contribute directly to the international reputation of our university.

All researchers at the University of Bayreuth who host Research Awardees or Research Fellows of the Humboldt Foundation or who have acquired a Research Group Linkage Programme are eligible to apply. Further information can be found here.

Funding for Early Career ResearchersHide

The University of Bayreuth supports PhD students, postdocs, habilitation candidates and junior professors in their careers through a range of measures that promote their research and career development.
  

  • PhD students via our UNIVERSITY OF BAYREUTH GRADUATE SCHOOL
    At the University of Bayreuth Graduate School (UBTGS) PhD students receive comprehensive counseling, training and funding opportunities (LINK) while pursuing their PhD at the University of Bayreuth.

  • Postdocs, Habilitation candidates, Junior professors via the WiN Academy  
    The WiN Academy is the University of Bayreuth‘s career development programme for Early Career Researchers after their doctorate – as postdocs, junior professors, junior research group leaders or habilitation candidates. Interdisciplinary offers enable an optimal research and working environment in addition to academic work.
Promoting equity and diversity at all career stagesHide

Gender Equality Service Centre
The offers, calls for proposals and programmes of the Gender Equality Service Centre are partly aimed at all female academics, but primarily at those in the qualification phase, and promote strategic career planning.

Up to 5000€ for gender-sensitive research  | GO Forschung Budget
The BMBF-funded project “GO Forschung” awards up to 5000€ for gender-sensitive research at the University of Bayreuth with the GO Forschung budget. The project supports inter- and transdisciplinary projects by early career researchers (R1 to R3) that focus on gender and diversity aspects in their research. Seed funding projects, publications and creative outreach projects from all subject areas are eligible for funding.
